🎶 my 3 record store visits
last week i visited three vinyl stores in chicago.
the first was reckless records

reckless records has three locations in chicago, and i stopped by their loop store on the last day of lollapalooza. the space was clean, well organized, and full of variety.
when i walked in, the staff had the new clipse album playing loudly and were debating which track was the best. the energy was great.
the next store i visited was counterfit in pilsen

counterfit was cozy with a very niche collection. there was a lot of nostalgia, with early 2000s xbox and playstation consoles in the back. plenty of vintage vinyl too.
i left with an earth, wind & fire album.
and the last vinyl store i visted was terror vision records in lakeview

terror vision felt like stepping into a horror movie archive. shelves were packed with rare soundtracks, spooky memorabilia, and cult classics.
🎶 my vinyl of the week
this week’s vinyl of the week is the low end theory by a tribe called quest
a tribe called quest's 1991 masterpiece blends jazz and hip-hop in a way that reshaped the genre forever. with warm upright basslines, crisp drums, and laid-back flows, this record helped define the golden age of alternative hip-hop.
from "check the rhime" to "jazz (we've got)" and the legendary posse cut "scenario," this album is a front-to-back classic. it's introspective, smooth, and socially sharp
a vinyl essential for any hip-hop lover.
